definition of an AB's field of recognition

I think I know the answer, but for my clarification, is an AB's Field of Recognition the fields/methods/matrices that the AB can accredit labs for under NELAP? I am specifically questioning Virginia's new FOR. It does not mean specifically that DCLS has accreditation to analyze for these - right? :?:

That is mostly correct. I'm not sure what Fields of Recognition are. You can see the Fields of Accreditation for each AB here: ... php#pab1_6

Click on the Folder Documents and Presentations and then scroll down.

Each state's FOA is a listing of technologies, like Atomic Absorption - Hydride Generation Spectrometry
From that generic description, the state then sets up the specific methods, analytes and matrices for which it will offer accreditation. This list has nothing to do with the capabilities of the state laboratory.
