SOP Templates
The TNI Technical Assistance Committee has developed two template models to aid laboratories in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for analytical methods used in their laboratory, and for implementing Administrative SOPs (such as data integrity, corrective actions, or handling customer complaints). This document addresses the laboratory method SOPs. The requirements for these SOPs are included in NELAC (2003) 5.5.4.1.2, “Laboratory Method Manual(s)”.

Quality Manual Template
The new TNI Quality Manual Template is a tool designed for laboratories to help prepare a Quality Manual in compliance with the 2009 TNI Standard. The prefabricated sections of the Quality Manual follow the ISO/IEC 17025 outline, but are completely fluid so that you can put sections, examples, links or references anywhere. The Template includes helpful notes, examples and text that can be edited to match each laboratory's particular circumstances. It can be used by a laboratory to create a Quality Manual from scratch or ideas and sections can be used to update a current Quality Manual.
Access to an on-line example library that is continually updated is a new tool that will be invaluable in preparing your laboratory's custom Quality Manual. This example library will be available late March/early April. TNI also plans to launch a Discussion Board where users of the Template can share ideas and download any revisions.
On-site training is being planned at the Florida Society of Environmental Analysts and Oregon Environmental Laboratory Association meetings in May 2011. A series of webinars and webcasts are being planned for the spring of 2011. Everyone who purchases the template may attend one of the webinars or webcasts TNI will be offering for free.

Small Laboratory Handbook
The goal of this handbook is to help environmental laboratories, especially small laboratories, take a journey to a new place in the world of laboratory quality systems: The NELAC Institute's (TNI) 2009 Standard. This document is intended to help explain the requirements of the 2009 TNI Standard and to provide environmental laboratories with clear, simple guidance on how to develop the policies and procedures that would allow them to become accredited under the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP).

TNI makes the accreditation standards it develops freely available on the internet for download by anyone. However, it is important to note that some modules contain language from ISO/IEC 17025 and 17011. Because of copyright restrictions, the publicly available TNI documents do not contain the ISO/IEC copyright protected language, but do reference applicable ISO clauses. In these situations, it is useful to read the TNI Standard along with the ISOI/IEC standard. Wherever an ISO clause is referenced (in italics), the language from that clause is applicable. Any additional TNI language then follows, in plain text, as a NOTE or as an additional numbered standard item.
TNI has produced a version of these standards where the ISO/IEC language is combined with the TNI language. These combined documents are available for prices that essentially recover the cost of the license agreements for use of the ISO/IEC language. Prices have been established for both single-use copies and network or site use as shown in the table below.
The TNI standards are integrated documents containing language from relevant ISO standards and language developed by TNI expert committees. The purchase of the integrated TNI documents eliminates the need to purchase a separate copy of the relevant ISO/IEC standard.
